Koffler Sales Gives Back

Koffler Sales is giving back this holiday season. This week, through 12/7/15, we are donating $1 per order, per charity and our employees chose four charities to benefit this year! We are excited to donate a portion of sales to NAMI, Make-A-Wish America, Special Olympics and To Write Love On Her Arms.

Holiday Shopping for Charity

NAMI, the National Alliance on Mental Illness, is the nation’s largest grass root organization dedicated to mental illness awareness, advocacy and support. They also provide free educational materials to everyone on their website. To learn more about this organization, click here.

Make-A-Wish is a unique organization that grants wishes to terminally and critically ill children. Whether it’s giving a little boy the opportunity to throw out the first pitch for his favorite baseball team or giving a little princess a chance to go to Disney World, Make-A-Wish works to make every sick child in their program feel special. Brandon Prieto's story for Special Olympics

The Special Olympics gives people with intellectual disabilities the opportunity to participate in sports. The organization provides all Olympic-style training, equipment, and competitions and creates a safe environment where all participants can explore their possibilities. To read some of the inspiring stories on their website, please click here.

The fourth charity we selected this year, To Write Love On Her Arms, aims to bring awareness to depression issues and prevent suicide. Their organization also addresses symptoms of depression, such as addiction and self-harm, and provides contact information for help in your local area. And remember, we are donating $1 per order, per charity through 12/7/2015 on all orders made on KofflerSales.com. If you need wall base, grip tape or non slip stair nosing, this week is a great time to place your order and do something good too!

Be Safe Hanging Holiday Lights

It’s that time of year when everyone is decorating their homes or businesses with holiday cheer. While most people plan their lighting design and where to place decorations, not very many plan for safety. A slip or fall this time of year can really put a damper on your holiday celebrations, so use our tips for a healthy and happy holiday season!

Koffler Sales Holiday Lights Safety

Electrical cord protectorsExtension Cord Protectors help keep your electrical outlets safe. This nifty little device costs only $5 and prevents damage to electrical cords. If loose cords in a high traffic area will be a problem, we suggest you look into adding Fastlane Cable Protectors to keep your lighting display accident-free.

Always turn off the electricity at the circuit box while working with electrical wires. Just because there isn’t something plugged into the wall yet or the light switch on does not mean that there still isn’t a live current that can shock you. Take the extra 60 seconds to do things the right way – your finger tips will thank us.

Make a ladder safer with non slip tapeWhen putting up a holiday display, most will use a ladder to place decorations higher up. Make the ladder you already own safer by adding Non Slip Tape to the rungs. This simple trick will be especially useful if you are hanging decorations outside where your shoes may become slick from water on the ground.

Corner Guards are wonderful to have all year long, but they are good to have this time of year when ladders and boxes can knick or chip your wall’s corners. We recommend our peel and stick on corner guards because they are very quick, easy and safe to install.

Finally, remember to unplug as many electronic devices as you can when you are not home. Accidental fires do happen and they can be made worse when a dry Christmas tree is present. Your safety always comes first!

If you used a Koffler product in your holiday display, we want to see it! Please email us a picture, and we’ll post it to our Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and Pinterest pages!

Get Your Home or Business Holiday Ready

With the holidays around the corner, we want to remind you to plan for an increase in activity around your home or business. With people coming and going, not to mention wet and slushy fall weather, accidents are more likely. We want to make sure that everyone has a happy and healthy holiday season, so we put together some Koffler tips!

Get your home or business holiday ready with Koffler Sales

all weather floor mats The weather outside may not be so delightful – here in Chicago, the weather by December can be downright frightful! Prevent slips or falls as well as dirty slush from entering your home or office with an All-Weather Mat. An all-weather mat is specifically designed for wet conditions and freezing temperatures, and it will help provide a better surface when it is slick out.

It will also catch leaves before your guests or customers drag them inside with them. The holidays are very busy for everyone, so having to sweep less often by your entrance is a good thing!

Green-Roof-Drainage-Mat-imgSpeaking of mats, did you know that Koffler Sales also offers commercial-grade Restaurant Mats? During the holiday season, most people cook large meals more often or are entertaining. Give your aching joints a break with a padded mat designed for standing for long periods of time. Your knees will thank you.

Steps can be very dangerous this time of year because surfaces are slippery, and with stairs there is less surface area to help someone catch their balance. We highly recommend installing Anti Slip Stair Nosing to any outdoor steps and entrance or foyer steps you may have.

reflector-tape-imgConsider adding Reflective Tape to your holiday crafts. Here’s why: If you are in the Northern Hemisphere, it gets very dark during the winter months and nighttime starts as early as 4PM. Help motorists find your home or business and see the entrance with reflective tape. With several colors available on KofflerSales.com, the ideas are endless!

Here’s a few decor ideas:

  • Turkey design with reflective feathers on a pumpkin
  • Reflective snowflakes in your landscaping
  • Star of David on a potted plant
  • Champagne bottles with reflective labels for New Year’s

We wish everyone a safe Halloween weekend, and remember to “fall back” on Sunday for Daylight Savings Time!
