There is no easier target than a person lying peacefully in a nice warm bed!
HOW TO GET RID OF BEDBUGS AND PREVENT THEIR RETURN
Bedbugs don’t fly, but they do scurry. They often nest within five feet of their feeding ground. Bedbugs will nest in the box spring, or even inside the mattress. To prevent infestation and to seal in nested bugs, use mattress pads designed to seal the box spring and mattress. Once the bed is secured, focus should be directed to cracks and crevices around the bed. Electrical outlets, pictures, headboards are all potential entry points for the bedbug. Powders are best for electrical areas, while oils provide a lasting deterrent and water based products for infested areas.
Bedbugs travel with a suitcase – yours! People unknowingly bring bedbugs home with them from vacation, business trips or school. The best way to prevent this is to treat your suitcase with water based bedbug preventer inside and out before you leave your house.
J.T Eaton has created the following videos to assist in the proper use of their products to assist in controlling bedbug infestations.
Look behind the headboard. In motel rooms, remove the stationary headboard. Bed bugs will hide along cracks and crevices. Check all objects: Picture Frames, Nightstands, Electronics and Furniture. Bedbugs will nest in a five foot radius. Some sprays will cause the bedbugs to repel so keep an eye out for them. Bugs will hide in, or behind the drawers on the slides. Carefully examine contents of the drawers. Remove the bottom dust cover of the chair because bedbugs will hid within the chairs.
Blue Label Water Base has a residual effect of 16 weeks. Apply it on the outer perimeter first. In the event that bed bugs exist within the room, they will scatter once they come in contact with an insecticide and will scatter to the outer perimeter of the room. Take your time spraying. Hit all cracks and crevices where bedbugs could be hiding. This will both kill and prevent bed bugs. Spray around the base of the TV. The bed will most likely be the most infested area. It is safe to use the blue label directly on the mattress, but only lightly on the outer seams. See Mattress Covers for maximum protection. Return one week later and re-spray the primary infested area.
Green Label is a powder Diatomaceous Earth product. Bedbugs breath through their exoskeleton. This product will attach and block the pores to kill the bedbug. Good to use around electronics. Recommend to use the puffer bottle. Puff this into cracks and crevices into most heavily infested areas. This product will remain, and will not breakdown. Once the bedbugs have been destroyed, this will prevent their re-emergence as long as the powder stays dry. Puff this product in and around your electrical outlets. Remove your electrical plates for maximum effectiveness.
