The thing is that the adhesive that is used in these things are temperature sensitive. They should be able to conform to the temperature requirement else the stair nosing will not stick well.
After the temperature is already set, it is now time to start installing the stair nosing. Gently pull upwards the back lining that covers the adhesive. If the stair nosing does not have an adhesive on it, then gently apply adhesive to the part that will be installed. Keep in mind that there should be no particles that will be compromising the entirety of the adhesive else it will not be able to keep them together.
